You Don't Know What You Don't Know

We have a kitten called Melon.
In my worldview, cats are pets. You have a cat flap, and they come and go as they please. You provide food and water. Sometimes, they bring you a dead bird or mouse and get hairs on your clothes.
My wife Liza doesn’t want him to go out.
I believe that’s wrong.
Then…I read an article that showed that house cats live longer than those who wander and have a better quality of life.
While I haven’t completely changed my worldview, it’s a reminder that I don’t know what I don’t know.
This habit of taking our worldview as sacrosanct is limiting.
It’s unconscious.
Below the line.
Parts-led.
But you don’t know what you don’t know, so how could you tell?
How about the next time someone tells you something that doesn’t fit into your worldview, instead of pushing back, you move into curiosity and ask questions?
